NaNoWriMo

Well, I just got my email from the folks at the National Write a Novel Month. I've actually been brainstorming a story before dealing with how my Paladin got to where he is today, and I'm not even on an RP server.

So, over the next few weeks, starting November, I'll start posting some parts of the story. Ya, it's a little nerve racking for anybody to be reading something I wrote, but it's not personal, so heck, why not throw it out to the wolves, and see how it tastes.

Let me know how it sound to you folks..... well, that's if anybody reads this, haha.

A bit of RP (a bit off subject)

I was reading WoWInsider, and found this amazing audio file. It is a story of a draenei Shaman of the Earthen Ring named Inadra. She has done an increadible job in presenting the story of the Dreanei Exodus further into the marshes of Zangamarsh from their lands of Nagrand, and the separation of her family. All before the sundering of Dreanor. Beautiful music, and beautiful voice acting. I could see an amazing machinima made from this. Exellent work.

Inadra, Shaman of the Earthen Ring

Again, very much worth listening too.

I'm back

I'm not even sure if anybody reads this blog or not, but if you do.... sorry. I've been out of the loop for a while now, started with Blogger getting blocked from my office PC, life, and then my son growing up.

A lot has changed since my last post, including some nice upgrades. I'm now sporting some T4, mixed with a bunch of badge gear and PvP mace goodness. I've reached the 2k +healing mark, and am now trying to mix it in with my mp5. Some of these changes, kind of make my earlier post about "Holy DPS Batman" kind of moot, since now a good bit of my Healing gear is used as my dps gear too. Kind of a semi-shockadin set (mostly since I don't want to change my talent build cause I'll forget what I had it like, lol).

Anyway, I also have a tank set that is 1 point of defense away from being uncrittable... and about 40% avoidance away from being uncrushable.... as holy. Lastly I got my sexy Shattered Sun tabard, so they're pretty much a nice place to farm gold now.

In RL, mah baby boy is about to turn 1 this month. So my WoW time has been cut down pretty good. But it's all worth it in the long run... eventually I'll have a little gnome DeathKnight to join up with /evil grin.

Finally, I've become a very active member of a new Healer Forum out there called Plus Heal. Turns out there's a little bit of troll in me cause at the moment I'm the highest poster out of about 460 members, lol. The forum was created by Matticus from World of Matticus, and he has done a great job of gathering the healing community into one location, plus it's a really nicely layed out site. Maybe he even comes here every once and a while... who knows.

Anyway, that's a bit of an update, I hope to update more often once I get used to posting from email. Especially with all the Wrath changes coming to head for the Paladin class. There's a lot to talk about.

Holy DPS Batman

As of late, with all the dailies to push through, I've been working on my DPS/grinding set for my Holy Paladin. I've heard different ideas as to what should be used to increase the damage output of a Paladin.

In general, for ret paladins, I'm guessing +Spell Damage is not on the forefront of your armor selection, instead strength and Attack power maybe. But for Holy paladins, is it beneficial to basically dress yourself like a heavily armored mage? I think so. I've geared my paladin up with a mix of my current healing gear (with the +damage as of 2.1) and what may be better used as some tankadin gear (+Stamina and +Spell Damage).

Until I get some better gear, I've been using...
Mask of Penance
Breastplate of Many Blessings
Khorium Girdle
Cassock of the Loyal
Vengeful Gladiator's Ornamented Spaulders
Vindicator's Ornamented Bracers
Justicar's Gloves
Battlescar Boots (for the stamina)

and then either the Continuum Blade/Triptych Shield of the Ancients combo, or Oathkeeper, or Light Infused Warhammer.

For the other Holy Paladin's out there, what is your DPS gear made up of?

Is the Shattered Sun getting Offensive?

Kill, kill, kill... Pew, pew, pew.

That seems to be the sound lately. Especially with all the dailies available to us. I'm starting to get a bit tired of all the dailies... not tired of the gold flowing in, or the chance at a Badge of Justice, but just the monatony of it all.

So far, I've reached Revered with the Shattered Sun Offensive, mostly cause that's a sweet looking tabard. But grinding the rep between Revered and Exalted (21000), get's pretty old, pretty fast. I have found some ways to speed up the process, and a nice little path to follow to get all of them done in one fell swoop... in fact I'm able to now do the Dead Scar bombing run in a single flight by timing my departure with the other folks around. However, my Libram of Wracking has been getting a workout, with all the demons to kill, and I've been able to get a good hold on my DPS armor set.

I've decided though, that it's still worth it, since it's a nice way to waste my time until some of my guildies get online.

What are your thoughts on the dailies as of late?

Rogue Paladin

Paladin's are enforcers of all that is good, defenders of the light. Well, not always. At least if you've got a friend who's an alchemist. Recently a friend of mine "Midnightwar 70 Warlock" had run most of the way through Karazhan with our normal evening group. It had gotten late, and we all quit before the Chess Event, and before taking out the Curator, or was it the Shade of Aran... I can't remember. Anyway, there were still mob's wandering between the entrance and the Chess Event.

Well I had read up about being able to use invisibility potions to get past all the mobs and into the Chess Event with no concequense. So, the next evening, we got online, and waited to see if the group was going to form up again, and finish up the Karazhan run. Well, they didn't, so we got ahold of the Raid leader and told him our plan. He didn't expect us to make it, so he gave us the OK... not so Rogue like, but at least being polite.

So we got ahold of a friend of ours, and I bought him the recipe for the Invisibility potion. Grabbed some reagents, and scooted off on my charger to find him. Got a total of 6 invisibility potions, just to be safe, and Midnightwar and I made our way to Karazhan.

You won't believe it, with 3 potions a piece, 1 soulstone/redemption, and a little luck, we made it to the door.

Just to clear things up, the Chess Event is meant to be done by a group of 10 people, each controlling a different chess piece. We attempted it with just the two of us, initially not realizing that we didn't have to have the King possessed the whole time. On the 3rd try, success.

I kind of felt bad, since nothing dropped for Midnightwar, but I came out really good. Out of the chest came the Triptych of the Ancients, and the Battlescar Boots.

A Holy paladin's dream to get one of the best healing shields in the game (at least as far as I can go) for free.

Holy Tankadin

Yet more proof of Paladin flexability. Just the other day I was asked if I could tank Magister's Terrace. I said that i was holy, but had some tank gear, but they invited me anyway. I've tanked before, even done a few heroics, and have realized that the Holy spec of a paladin is truly a jack-of-all-trades.

We made it through the second boss, but I had to go after our second try on him. In fact we could have had him on the first try if I had been more attentive. We had him down to 1%, and I was the only one left standing, soaking up his arcane blasts. If only I had hit my "Oh shizznizle" button (Lay on Hands) we could have had him down... ce la vie.

Since we're on the subject of paladin tanks. I've got a macro that might be helpful on grabbing aggro. A paladin has the ability known as Righteous Defense as of the release of TBC. What this does is pull aggro of at least 3 mobs off of a friendly target. This is all well and good, but if you're tanking a mob, you don't want to have to change your target to pull his aggro back to you. So, I've found this, which has been lying around for a while, that allows you to use your Righteous Defense as a Paladin taunt, much like warriors and druids use.

/cast [help] Righteous Defense; [target=targettarget] Righteous Defense

Though a Holy Paladin may be a jack-of-all-trades, he is still a master at Healing, which helped out during the boss fights I've done as the tank... it's nice when a tank can effectively heal himself (therefore generating even more aggro).

Welcome

World of Warcraft is my first MMORPG. I've never been a big fan, ever since the first screenshots of old school Everquest. In fact Everquest made me want to puke up jagged pixels and blurry textures the moment I saw it.

I didn't expect to be playing World of Warcraft at all in fact. I was a big fan of the first 3 in the Warcraft series, and really enjoyed some of the backstory that came with it. But it wasn't until my brother-in-law talked me into trying it out that I realized what I was missing.

In the beginning I was the true blue-blooded n00b. Had no idea what to do, where to go, or who to kill and who to talk to. I'd played regular old RPGs in the past, in fact was a fan of any of the Final Fantasy's (bar Final Fantasy XI), so I knew how things worked, but WoW was something different. I was always worried that I'd miss something, and therefore took at least 2 weeks just to get to level 10.

I didn't even know what I really wanted to be yet. Started off as a Troll Hunter, and was all excited when I hit 14, cause that was the farthest I'd ever gotten a character, but it never really stuck with me.

But then my brother-in-law started talking about his Paladin. That's when I realized what I wanted to do in the game, and it fit my personality. Though I began as the n00badin with whatever gear I could get my hands on. I had no idea what I wanted to be, but as time went on, I picked up on the Holy tree, and it's flexability. And the rest is history....
